Storm Barra throws the kitchen sink at southwest | Ireland

Southwest Ireland is hit by “everything and the kitchen sink” as Storm Barra is expected to bring winds of over 130 km / h, a forecaster said.

Counties of Cork and Kerry are expected to bear the brunt of the storm, with a red warning from 6 a.m. The rest of the country has issued orange and yellow warnings.

Liz Walsh, a meteorologist at Met Eireann, said the storm was a “major event” and that its gale winds would do the most damage. Other hazards are high seas and coastal flooding, heavy rainfall, sleet and snow in the northwest.
