STOUGHTON, Wis. – Stoughton is now officially lead-free.

That was after the last pipe was removed Thursday morning.

City officials gathered to celebrate the achievement, which came entirely during the pandemic.

City officials went door-to-door to inspect pipes inside the houses.

“It’s annoying, you have holes in the floor, you have people in the house,” said City Council President Regina Hirsch. “But it all worked out and the people were friendly and I thank the community for that.”

The pipe replacement was made possible by a $ 3 million grant from the Department of Natural Resources.
