Sweet pipes! (Your home’s plumbing, not your biceps) – Vernon Morning Star

When you turn on the faucet, you want to see water. When you flush the toilet, you want the water to drain away. For most homeowners, thinking about plumbing usually stops there.

But if that is the only thought you have about your pipes, you are likely to have a smelly problem that you cannot ignore.

“Routine maintenance of a plumbing system should always be a high priority. Neglected pipelines lead to leaks, flooding and sewer protection, ”said Ted Fox, owner of Fox Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electrical. “We try to keep house owners as easy as possible with an overview of house maintenance with our service partner plan, which includes a supplementary sanitary inspection for the whole house as well as regular inspections of electrics, heating and cooling.”

3 things that will never go down the drain

Clogs aren’t just a nuisance – they put extra pressure on your pipes and can shorten their lifespan. Take care of your installation by keeping these household items away from the drain!

  • Coffee grounds: Throw them in your green litter bin or save them for the garden. Just don’t send them down the drain, even if you have a garbage disposal.
  • Fat: The fat from bacon and other cooking is only liquid when it is hot. Send it down the drain and it will solidify on the inside of your pipes. Collect cooking fat in a container and throw it away with the rest of your trash or organics.
  • Candle wax: Send wax to your toilet, sink, or tub. This not only reduces pipe capacity, but also traps other debris. Avoid emergencies by cooling candle wax and throwing it in the trash.

Let go of the yuck!

Slow drains can’t just be caused by food waste – tree roots often find their way into pipes, especially during the growing season. If the butt doesn’t cut, get in touch with a skilled Fox technician for a thorough clean so that your house is all right again.

Fox’s “Get the Yuck Unstuck” limited-time promotion will get rid of any drain in your home for $ 99 and get a supplemental camera inspection.

  • Water jet: Break apart wooden shoes and tree roots with high pressure water! “Hydro-jetting uses very high pressure and concentrated water to cut through fat, roots and dirt so that the inside of your pipe stays like new. This is a great option for a main sewer that has been built for years, ”says Fox.
  • Installation, inspection and repair of trenchless sewer pipes: Fox technicians send a camera over your pipes to check their condition. If there’s a problem with roots, a cracked pipe, etc., they are often better at repairing pipes than new without digging up your yard or driveway!
  • Augering: “Whether you call it a snake, a snail, or a root, it’s one of the most important tools in a plumber’s arsenal. It is used to restore flow to a slow or stopped drain and is an excellent, affordable option. “
