Texas water park chemical leak blamed on filtration system

SPRING, Texas (AP) – A Texas water park says chemical pollution that sent dozens of people to hospitals was caused by “improper installation” of a water filtration system.

Six Flags officials said Wednesday that an outside service company improperly installed the system in Hurricane Harbor Splashtown, which resulted in pool sanitizing chemicals being released in an outdoor children’s pool area on July 17.

As a result, about 30 people have been hospitalized and 200 people have joined a lawsuit against Six Flags, the owner of the water park.

Six Flags did not identify the company that installed the system.

The park reopened to the public on Thursday.
