The Least Favorite Kitchen Chore

Ah, spring cleaning. The thought of a sparkling clean home is always appealing. But the reality of scrubbing your kitchen, bathroom, and everything in between is probably not fun. And during the pandemic, when most of us are spending a lot more time at home than before, the last thing you want to do is spend hours cleaning up.

Against this background, the German washer-dryer company Miele analyzed Twitter data to determine which housework people hate the most and which do not mind in the spring. The company viewed more than 11,000 tweets and rated them with a score of 0 to 100, with 0 identifying the “most negative” tweets, and therefore the most hated tasks.

Some of the results are not a complete surprise – for example, decorating was the “most popular” task on the list. Who doesn’t like to adapt the decor of their household to the season? Second on the most popular list was “Filling the Dishwasher”; It’s just so satisfying to know that a machine is doing the hard work for you. Washing up is a generally despicable task
