This home improvement group helps homeowners select their dream design remodel

Are you about to remodel your home?

One of the first steps in any home remodeling is choosing the style. That can vary from a Texan farmhouse, Tudor, artisan, contemporary, mid-century modern, or Mediterranean.

You want the house to be consistent from outside to inside and from one room of the house to another, whether you live on a sprawling ranch or a stately Victorian home.

To help homeowners with renovations, Expo Home Improvement has shared tips for planning and remodeling your bathroom.

First, ask yourself a few questions to guide your new bathroom design, suggest Expo Home Improvement

Question # 1. Does the bathroom need a freshening up, a small renovation or a major renovation?

Now is the time to determine if your bathroom needs a new vanity update, a coat of paint or new lights. If you answered yes to the following, then only one update may be required.

Minor remodeling could include a new sink, faucet, closet, floor, shower, or bathtub. A major renovation could include renewing the electrical or plumbing installation in the room, as well as creating a new layout of the cabinets or fittings.

Question # 2. Do I know what permits, licenses, or inspections are required?

Your remodeling will likely require a permit if it involves plumbing or electrical work. No approval is required for simple updates or a refreshed look.

Question # 3. Do I have the know-how to do the job myself or do I need help?

“A bathroom renovation requires a lot of patience, a considerable investment of time and a number of tools. It makes sense to assess whether the work is within your own abilities or whether you should seek help from experts, ”says Expo Home Improvement.

Do you know the overall style and design of your home? Expo Home Improvement mentions some examples of bathroom design decisions that many homeowners make for their architectural style of homes.

Mid-Century Modern: Homeowners can pull this style through bathroom design by opting for simple and clean lines, retro vanities, dark wood and brass accents, jewel tones, and geometric patterned floor tiles.

Victorian: Many homeowners struggle to design their bathrooms to match the charm of their Victorian homes. But cohesion with the rest of the house could come from choosing wood floors or white mosaic tiles, plain or white bathroom fittings, claw-foot bathtubs, nickel or brass fittings.

Mediterranean: The Mediterranean architectural style feels comfortable and sun-drenched. A bathroom remodel to match this living style can include tiles and backs in terracotta or mosaic patterns and walls with applied textures like stucco and patterns and colors inspired by seaside life.
