W.A.M.Y. Community Action is Accepting Applications for Urgent Home Repair Program

WAMY Community Action is accepting applications for its urgent home repair program until October 15th. Mitchell and Yancey counties. Examples of special needs are elderly, disabled, single households and / or five or more people living in the household.

The goal of the Urgent Repair Program is to make repairs and alterations to alleviate poor housing conditions that pose a threat to the health and safety of the homeowner. Some of the repairs include failing sewage treatment plants, dangerous heating systems, or rotten floors. The program can also pay for accessibility changes that allow you to stay in your home after an injury or serious illness.

After October 15th, requests for repairs will be accepted in spring 2022.

Founded in 1964, WAMY (Watauga, Avery, Mitchell, Yancey Counties) is a community action agency and the first not-for-profit, non-profit organization to break into the four high country counties.
