CANFIELD – The second of two public hearings on new septic tank regulations, which will go into effect Jan. 1, will be held today from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, 7300 North Palmyra Road, Canfield.

The new regulations, mandated by Ohio law, will affect all residential water treatment owners in Mahoning County.

The new regulations will include fees between $ 30 and $ 125 per year depending on the type of septic system affected, the Master said during a presentation at the health committee meeting on Wednesday. Nobody from the public attended the first public hearing Tuesday night at the New Springfield Church of God in New Springfield, said Colton Masters, environmental health director for the Mahoning County Department of Health, now known as Mahoning County Public Health.
