Baking soda is traditionally used in baking, which is what makes cakes flaky. However, its chemical composition makes it ideal for cleaning and can easily remove dirt and grease. White vinegar is also an underrated detergent that can leave a streak-free shine on multiple surfaces. When these two elements are used together, they can leave brilliant results in your home.

While there are definitely some times when you should be using one instead of the other, you can combine baking soda and white vinegar for some cleaning chores.

Baking soda should never be used on glass as it can scratch surfaces – while white vinegar leaves a streak-free sheen.

Similarly, when mixed with water, baking soda can move baked foods and dirt with a simple paste.

1. Drains

Our kitchen sinks can easily get clogged when leftover food goes down the drain.

This can smell too, which is why baking soda – with its odor-absorbing properties – can be a miracle.

To get rid of clogged drains, mix half a cup of baking soda with one cup of white vinegar.

Pour this mixture down the drain, bubbling and bubbling may occur.

Leave on for five to 20 minutes and then pour some freshly boiled water.

This should have postponed the blockage and left you with a fresh smelling sink.

3. Pots and Pans

We all have that one pan that we’ve soaked for a while and the dirt just won’t move.
