Woman exposes the grim gunk hiding in your kitchen plug hole and people ‘feel sick’

All kinds of food and other substances can fall into the plug hole in the sink, and it can feel like an impossible task to fish them out again.

Most of us try to plug it through the little gaps so it’s out of sight and out of sight, and now a woman has exposed the grim buildup that’s hiding inside – but the plumbers have urged people not to do it again themselves .

TikTok user @Cleanwith_kiraa shares videos showing off her home cleaning hacks with her thousands of followers.

A recent video titled “This is your mark to clean your bolthole” generated more than 3.6 million views after Kira used a screwdriver to remove the top cover, revealing the thick mass below.

After the post went viral, people claiming to be plumbers recorded the comments to warn others not to repeat the method as this would break the top seal of the sink and cause leakage to the cabinet below can cause.

Kira films what’s lurking in the hole and says, “Ew ew ew, it’s 100 times worse than I thought” as she starts scrubbing it with bleach spray and an old toothbrush.

The obnoxious collection of sludge is then scooped out and disposed of before being cleaned with bicarbonate of soda, zoflora disinfectant, and vinegar before the lid is screwed back on.

However, experts advise pouring cleaning mixes straight into the sink instead of removing the top cover. Products such as wire hangers or zip ties can be used by inserting them into the holes to clear deeper blockages.

Just seeing what might be lurking in their sink was enough to make some people feel uncomfortable when one said, “No, I’m sorry, I would have been messing around everywhere.”

And another added, “And that’s why food shouldn’t go into the sink.”
