Houston (KTRK) – A Houston family said Heaven sent help when they needed it most, calling a group of Florida plumbers their angels.

Caprina Trotter said the pipes of her 87-year-old mother Ursula Gross burst during the winter storm. Gross is tied to his home and in the hospice. Trotter said she couldn’t find a plumber, let alone do the repairs.

Trotter reached out to Ecclesia Houston, where she said her prayers had been answered.

“I got on my knees. I prayed. I asked God, “Please give me the answer because mom is about to give up.” She felt so defeated and so did I, ”said Trotter. She called me back and said, ‘I have some people who drove from Cocoa Beach Plumbing from Orlando, Florida. They are ready to help your mom fix all of her plumbing work. ‘“

Trotter said Alex, Chris, Matt, and Ryan helped make thousands of dollars in repairs for free.

Ryan McKay of Cocoa Beach Plumbing Services said they were called to help. Since arriving, the team has helped restore running water to 40 homes in southeast Texas.

“To know that you helped someone who was in dire need … that made us proud,” McKay said.

Chris Seay is the senior pastor at Ecclesia. He told ABC13 they helped coordinate plumbers with families in need. So far, Seay has said they have helped 80 families and there are more on a waiting list.

“When we saw a lot of pipes bursting, we knew plumbers were going to be a problem,” Seay said. “I’ve started reaching pastors across the country and using social media.”
