York County man charged with assaulting Roto Rooter plumber

A York County man was arrested on an assault charge Friday after he allegedly grabbed a Roto Rooter plumber by the throat after a disagreement over estimated repairs, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office report.

The homeowner denied the charges, claiming to police he only gave the plumber a “tongue lashing” after he thought the plumber was trying to take advantage of him.

Police responded to the call from the plumber who said the homeowner disagreed with the estimate for work and “started to get verbal” with the plumber, the report states. After that, the homeowner allegedly “grabbed him by the throat” and told the plumber to get off his property, according to the incident report.

The plumber had redness on his neck and was “visually distraught,” the report states.

A deputy questioned the homeowner, who admitted he disagreed with the suggested repairs and was upset but denied assaulting the plumber. The homeowner focused mainly on the plumbing problem and not the incident when questioned, according to police.

The deputy charged the homeowner with assault and battery.
