WASHINGTON – Plumbing companies face an incredible influx of business as arctic air ravages the pipes.
“Plumbing becomes an instant emergency,” says Richard Nashwinter, owner of DH Stevens Company Plumbing and Heating.
“The volume of calls is astronomical,” he explains.
After work, Nashwinter’s company usually receives two or three calls.
At these temperatures, he reaches 50 to 100 customers at night who call for help.
The vast majority of them face the same problems – broken pipes or frozen pipes with no water.
Nashwinter was so busy he had to turn down the deal.
